Chapter Head - Vancouver
Career CIBC World Markets, Deloitte
Education University of British Columbia
I was born in London, Ontario, Canada but moved to Vancouver, BC when I was young so that my father could finish up his medical residency. Upon his completion, we relocated to Chilliwack, a small town about 2 hours outside of Vancouver. This is where I grew up and am happy to call home. Growing up, my main priority was always playing competitive ice hockey so I never really took high school very seriously. Fortunately, I still managed to work hard and get good enough grades to get into the University of British Columbia. I started out pursuing my BA with no real idea what I was interested in or what type of career would be waiting for me post-graduation. My brother and I had previously started a local summer asphalt sealing business so I had a vague notion that I wanted to do something in business. After enrolling in a few economics and finance electives, I was immediately hooked and made the switch to the Sauder School of Business to pursue my BCom degree the following year. Coming from a family with no business background, it was here where I was given my first real glimpse into the many career opportunities available in finance. My sights were soon set on breaking into the investment banking industry. After leveraging a summer internship working in corporate finance at Deloitte and plenty of networking throughout the summer, I was able to get my foot in the door at CIBC where I now work with the mining and diversified investment banking groups. Outside of school and my professional career, I’m involved in a mentorship program with Sauder as well as Leaders. After having so many people help me along the way to achieving my goals these past couple of years, I enjoy trying my best to help others do the same whatever their goals may be.
I AM HAPPIEST WHEN...
I can spend time with my friends and family whether that involves catching up over a bite to eat, hitting the golf course, or just hanging out. Staying in touch and maintaining my relationships with these people is something that is very important to me. I also am happiest when I am able to travel. I really enjoy the excitement that comes with exploring a new place that I’ve never been before and meeting new people along the way.
